Not sure if anyone actually reads this at all, but I came across a quote today while reading and thought it merited a post for thehappyworkers.
"Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward." -Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
Vonnegut is, and always has been, one of my favorite authors, if not my favorite. If you don't know him or are unfamiliar with him, go pick up SLAUGHTERHOUSE FIVE, then read HOCUS POCUS or BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS and tell me you aren't in love with Vonnegut.
Anyway, diatribe aside, I thought this quote was fitting for us since I'm not quite sure how many people know how The Happy Workers began. Jonathan, Eli, Chris and I all worked at the same place and were all equally miserable with said job. With a little oompf, a dozen meetings or so and a few cinematic purchases, we took our frustration and turned it into what is now The Happy Workers. I can't speak for all of them but I know being a part of this group and making people, myself included, laugh, I have made it through some bad times these past few years. And I think with the current state of our economy everyone is feeling a little overworked, underpaid and all-around stressed. If that's you, and I'm hoping it isn't, here's what I think you should do: LAUGH. Do whatever you can to laugh and find ways to laugh. You never know what might come out of it. And hey, maybe we can help. ;)
Til then, I wish you all nothing but the best!
